Composer-DJ fusing the ethno with the cyber. From Japan, and lived in US, UK, Germany and Pakistan.
1974年、和歌山県生まれ。高校在学中に御坊市で結成したバンドで活動。19歳でボストンのバークリー音大に入学しジャズギター、和声理論、バンドアンサンブルなどを学ぶ。
東京でDJ活動中の1998年、ソニー・ミュージックの Future Music Audition に入賞、翌年映画「Blister」のサントラで楽曲使用される。2003年、NHK和歌山局の番組音楽を制作。
2011年、パキスタンの小中高一貫校で音楽教師となる。計6年間の教師生活を同国で送り、国際バカロレア・プログラムで音楽カリキュラムを作成し授業をする。
2013年より2年間ドイツ・ベルリンに滞在し、DJ、ストリートギター演奏、コンピュータソフトのレッスンなどを行う。2015年、バークリー音大にオンライン復学し、複合音楽学科を首席卒業。2020年より、故郷で楽曲制作と発表の活動を続けて現在に至る。
音楽以外の興味分野は、旅行・料理・民俗学・脳神経科学・社会心理学。
Born in Japan’s Wakayama in 1974, Masaki was active in the band he formed while in highschool. He entered Berklee College of Music and studied jazz guitar, harmony and ensemble techniques.
Active as a DJ in Tokyo, he became a finalist for Sony Music’s audition in 1998, and his music was used in a film the following year. He composed music for NHK Wakayama TV in 2003.
During the 6 years starting in 2011, he taught music in a Pakistani school, designing and teaching curricula in the International Baccalaureate programs for 6-16 year olds.
He lived in Berlin for 2 years from 2013, and pursued DJing, street guitar playing and teaching Ableton Live. In 2015, he returned to Berklee as an online student and later graduated summa cum laude in Interdisciplinary Music Studies.
Since returning home in 2020 amid the pandemic, he’s been producing and releasing works on streaming platforms.
Outside music, his other fields of interests are travel, cooking, anthropology, neuroscience and social psychology.
